i-Flier International School is a co-educational school operating in all classes with two sections; Primary/Nursery Session and Junior/Senior Secondary session. Admission is open to students who wish to pursue their school studies in a safe and caring learning environment and who meet admissions requirements. Admissions information is evaluated to determine if the student is prepared to meet the school’s academic and disciplinary standards.
i-Flier International School does not discriminate on the basis of race, colour, national or ethnic origin, or disability in the administration of its educational policies and admissions policies. We consider all children for admission to the school who have the ability and aptitude to access an academic curriculum.
A student who has been expelled from another school, who has not met the academic requirements of his former school, or who, in the view of the i-Flier administration, has a history of behaviour problems, will not be admitted.
Parents must disclose to the School any known or suspected circumstances relating to their child’s health, development, allergies, disabilities and learning difficulties.
At i-Flier International School, we foster an ethos of high expectations for outstanding behavior, consistently challenging any behavior that falls short. Our goal is to provide a supportive, friendly, and safe environment where all pupils can learn in a secure and relaxed atmosphere, achieving their academic potential. We celebrate diversity and take bullying and its impact on pupils seriously. Pupils and parents can be assured that known incidents of bullying will be responded to quickly, and any pupil being bullied will be supported through a range of interventions. Those who engage in bullying behavior will be disciplined according to our agreed sanctions and may also receive support to alter their behavior.
We recognize that effective learning occurs when pupils feel valued by their teachers, peers, and families. Therefore, we emphasize the personal responsibility of each member of our community to ensure positive and caring relationships.
In cases of bullying, the school will investigate the incident thoroughly. The child displaying bullying behavior will be asked to genuinely apologize, and other consequences such as an apology letter or a written contract may be required. Our aim is to resolve differences and encourage reconciliation among pupils. In serious cases, parents will be informed in writing, and suspension or even exclusion will be considered. After investigating and addressing the incident, each case will be monitored to ensure repeated bullying does not occur, and once resolved, the incident will be considered closed. We believe that all children can be bullied or be a bully, and as such, once an issue has been addressed, all parties should be allowed to move on.

POLICY FOR GIFTED AND TALENTED STUDENTS
Rationale
All children should be able to realize their potential in a challenging and supportive environment. i-Flier International School recognizes that some of our pupils are gifted or talented, and some may be exceptionally able in one or more areas of learning.
- Gifted Learners: Those with abilities in one or more subjects in the statutory curriculum, other than art and design, music, and PE.
- Talented Learners: Those with abilities in art and design, music, PE, or performing arts such as drama and dance.
We recognize that gifted and talented pupils can vary widely:
- They may be all-rounders or excel in one specific area.
- They may have high ability but struggle with certain skills, such as writing.
- Their abilities may not always be immediately apparent and can be hidden or remain as potential.
Identification
- Gifted and talented students are identified through a comprehensive analysis of various sources of information, including:
- Nominations by teachers based on assessments, classroom observations, discussions with pupils, and work scrutiny.
- Information from previous teachers, parents/carers, and classroom assistants.
Organizational and In-Class Approaches
Our school employs several strategies to support gifted and talented students:
- Grouping: Students may be grouped in mixed-ability settings or ability sets, with special recognition for gifted and talented students.
- Opportunities for Collaboration: We provide opportunities for students of similar abilities to work together.
Mentorship and Special Tasks: Gifted and talented students receive mentorship and are given tasks that challenge their abilities and encourage their development.
At i-Flier International School, we are committed to nurturing the unique talents and abilities of all our students, ensuring they are supported and challenged to reach their full potential.
Handwriting Policy
Intent Handwriting is a crucial skill that, like reading and spelling, affects written communication across the curriculum. At i-Flier International School, we aim for our children to write with ease, speed, and legibility. Cursive handwriting, which involves joining letters and words in a series of flowing movements and patterns, helps students focus more on the content of their writing rather than the formation of letters. Handwriting skills are taught regularly and systematically throughout the school.
Our objectives in teaching handwriting are:
- To enable children to write in a consistent, well-presented, and legible format.
- To ensure all children know the difference between lower and upper case letters.
- To help students understand the importance of clear and neat presentation in communicating their meaning.
- To develop a consistent size and shape of letters and regular spacing between letters and words.
- To raise children’s self-motivation and self-esteem through the establishment of best handwriting practices.
Implementation To achieve these aims, we follow these principles:
- Handwriting is taught regularly and systematically in classes, groups, or individually, as appropriate.
- Patterns are used initially, employing a variety of tools and multisensory methods to encourage free-flowing hand motions.
- Correct pencil hold and letter formation are taught from the beginning, and handwriting is frequently linked with spelling.
- When marking or writing comments, staff members use cursive handwriting as appropriate.
- Display writing throughout the school includes both cursive and computer-generated writing using the Comic Sans script.
By adhering to these principles, we ensure that our students develop the handwriting skills necessary for effective written communication.
